About the Game
Is
there a fixed campaign?
In the course of the game, players
will have to complete a number
of different objectives one
after the other. The first could
be simply to fulfil the characters'
needs, the second might be to
engage Mike and Linda in conversation.
Further objectives could be
to improve their furnishings,
the first kiss, and so on. By
the way, money in Singles does
not grow on trees any more than
it does in real life, but has
to be earned through honest
toil!
So
the game characters have different
personalities – how does this
influence gameplay?
The same as it does in real
life. Take the opposites orderly/slovenly,
for example. A slovenly game
character will have a rather
high "threshold of pain",
which means he or she won't
mind overflowing bins, dirty
dishes on the kitchen table
or grubby floors as much as
an orderly person will. Slovenly
characters still feel fine and
comfortable when their partners
are just about ready to freak
out! Besides, slovenly characters
never feel obliged to do the
dishes – unless you drop
them a subtle hint.
Freak
out? So there are quarrels as
well?
Hey, Mike and Linda are no saints!
Of course there will be quarrels.
For instance when their relationship
has been neglected by the player.
In this case, the game is again
just like real life: A little
thunderstorm now and then can
be just what's needed to clear
up the atmosphere …
There
is a lot of talk about "erotic
relationships". Will these be
part of the game?
You bet they will – after
all, the game is a real life
simulation. This is why we will
be showing eroticism - but no
pornography. The characters
will e.g. be seen naked. They
will have showers and baths,
and cuddle as well. And yes,
they will have sex – either
together, if you manage to make
them fall in love with each
other, or on their own.
Apart
from Mike and Linda – which
other features are part of the
game?
For a start, there are hundreds
of items of furniture which
you can buy and place in the
flat. Of course, all these objects
have different functions in
the game. They can be used to
refurbish the rooms, and they
will definitely cost Mike and
Linda lots of money. The flat
can be decorated as well: Walls
can be painted, floors changed,
new windows can be built in
with no trouble at all. You
can even add new walls –
or how about a little landscape
gardening? A swimming pool always
looks good …
Gameplay Questions
How
can I cancel an action of the
Singles if I want them to do
something else?
In this case, the Singles will
normally abandon their current
action anyway. If they don't
(e.g. when they are watching
the telly), you can click on
the top action in the action
list to the top right. Then
this action will disappear.
Somehow
one of my Singles got stuck
when performing an action. This
action is greyed out in the
list to the top right, and nothing
works any more.
Just click on the stuck action several times
until it disappears. You can also clear the
whole list from the bottom to the top.
My Singles
refuse to perform an action sometimes,
although the particular action is
already unlocked.
There can be several reasons for this.
1) If the refused action is interpersonal,
it is probable that your Singles feel unhappy.
Make sure that their needs are fulfilled and then try again.
2) It can also be that the path is blocked:
When one Single is e.g. standing in front of the
fridge, the other one will not be able to get their
breakfast. Paths can also be blocked by objects.
3) All seats could be taken (important for meals).
I
have just tried a game in the
Loft Mode. There are no dialogues,
and I can perform all actions
right from the start?
This is correct. The new Loft
Mode is a free game without
a story and corresponding dialogues
and without a pre-defined building
structure. The mansion, which
is only unlocked when you successfully
finish the normal game, has
no story elements either, but
a wonderfully designed domicile.
Graphics Questions
Singles
will not run on my PC or there are
graphic errors.
These problems can be caused by several issues:
1) The game requires DirectX 9b. If you
have not got this version of DirectX,
you can install it when installing the game.
2) The drivers of your video card could
be out of date. Singles requires the latest
drivers for your video card. Please make sure
that you have the latest drivers installed.
You can simply download the latest drivers for
your particular video card on the website of
your video card's manufacturer.
3) Please reduce the "Shadow Details"
or the "Texture Detail" in the menu
"Settings", if the error message
"Insufficient video memory" is displayed.
Important: You can only change the graphic
settings directly after launching the game.
4) If the shadow details are high, colour
effects can occur with some configurations.
They will disappear as soon as you leave
the building mode.
